Holiday Song
02:50
|
|||
fly in a plane
over the plains
take in the sights
get a bit of sleep on the flight
go through gate A
catch a bus from the front of the lobby
hear about all the may flies, and look out for tourist traps on your way by
get in bed late
get a few hours before eight
the shuttle's arrived, and we're waiting in line
ooh ooh not coming home
take in the sights
wait in the lines
have a good time
as your wallet gets lighter
and the neons get brighter
oh and all along, we took it all for granted
getting on the Greyhound didn't seem romantic, and yet
i still don't want to go home.

Sunny Day
01:42
|
|||
it's a sunny day
but it's not always going to be that way
should go outside today
but I can barely even face the day
should get up early today
but I can barely make it for midday
it's a sunny day
but it's not always going to be that way
it rains at three in the afternoon like clockwork
and it is freaking me out
‘cause nobody here seems to think it's weird
said nobody here seems to think it's weird.

Florida Clouds
02:04
|
|||
florida clouds
are like paintings
on the sides of a dome
and the state lines
are like windows
on a miniature home
florida clouds
on orlando streets
and a driver that's in bare feet
on the ride back home
i'll probably fall asleep
too many crowds
are still taking
up time and our minds can't cope
too many people
are waiting
for everyone else to go broke
florida clouds
on orlando streets
and a pilot we'll never meet
and on the flight back home
i'll probably fall asleep.

I'm Just So Tired
02:40
|
|||
falling asleep as i'm
walking on my feet
but I keep the pace up 'cause
you've got your make up on
and it took us so long just to get here
oh i'm not throwing in the towel just yet, dear
i'm just so tired
they say we're born to explore, as they
pushed you out the door
you've never been friends with the
thought of the end of being taken care of
you spent a bit more money, and i hope you're seeing
any benefit, or better way of being
i'm just so tired of everything
they made your bed, now sleep in it
have you been thinking? you reek of it
you might be better fed
but we'll both be dead
in a decade, or ten
i'm just so tired.

Dreaming
02:08
|
|||
dreaming
of airplanes
cramped seats
and airline gates
sleeping
but feeling
I'm walking
sightseeing
beaches
sunshine
miami palm trees
no one to keep time
driving
in taxis
we're passing
through cities
the taxi driver said he'd rather go back home
than deal with the stress of living and owning a home, here
hotels
and streetlights
walking
the streets at night
it took all night to find a place to eat, a place to rest our feet
from walking up and down the adopted streets.

Stubborn
02:22
|
|||
I took a ride, it wasn't in my car
I didn't get that far
(before I realised I was dreaming, and I)
noticed little things about the country siding
with the victor's side
if we could run or hide, we'd probably do both
the liquor store is going broke, but there's a theme park on the corner
and you could win a trip to California if you're the fifteenth caller
opened my eyes, I saw the hotel ceiling
and I got the feeling I was hypnotised
the balding man smoked cigarettes; he stood with us, and told vignettes
of failing to get good help in the South
I watched him form the words inside his mouth
and let them fall out of his lips onto the pavement where they multiplied
and if he can't muster up the strength to be optimistic, how can I?
it's quite a thing to see
you want some ignorance? just look at me
I'm stupid and I'm here on holiday
I'm not here to stay and I'm not here to say
that I know any better but at least I've got the guts to know I'm through -
at least I'm not as stubborn as you.
It's lucky you're not ugly on the outside, too.

The End
01:52
|
|||
i took a leaf out of your book and buried my head in the sand
now i've nothing but a head full of seashells, a hand full of get wells and nothing left of who i am.
